After a spate of singles paving the way - UK based producer and visual artist Bon-Psy finally releases the first EP of a much larger conceptual project titled ‘Order’ via Asta Hiroki’s Folded Music imprint. Intended as one third of the full instalment that will depict the delicate balance of chaos and order in life through his unique brand of electronica and a triptych of original cover artworks, separate in their own right yet each forming part of a larger picture.
Picking up strong support across the board the EP has already been supported by BBC Radio 1 (Jaguar), BBC 6Music (Huey Morgan, Tom Robinson, Deb Grant), Bandcamp Weekly, Spotify editorial playlists (Genre Glitch, Orbit, Fresh Finds Jazz, Fresh Finds Experimental).
Imagine a reality where you live in complete order.
From the outside you seem like an individual who is living a fulfilled life. You have a house, family, friends, nice car, a well-paid 9 to 5 job. Society suggests that these are the things that are often needed to live a happy and fulfilled life. Whilst a life of order can be fulfilling at first, it is rigid and restrictive. Without a dash (or more) of chaos, an ordered existence can in fact be intolerable…
Bon-Psy explains further:
“ ‘Order’ is my representation of what we imagine our lives can be like if we strive for this perfectionism. It’s joyous, euphoric, feel-good and overall, just a bright and cheerful experience. The tunes for this EP have a dreamy like quality which I think encourages the notion that aspiring for these emotions by living in a way that encompasses Order is just that, a dream. We all strive for happiness, and think that rigidity and Order is the key to attaining it, but there is something to be said about Chaos and it’s place in our daily lives. Order is complacency, and without Chaos, the joyous moments of life are harder to appreciate.”
With a burgeoning reputation with his forward-thinking electronica productions and vivid colourful artworks Bon-Psy has established himself as one of the most interesting artists in independent music today. Bridging leftfield experimental styles with commercial sensibilities he has created a sonic signature unlike any other - jazz, ambient, glitch, downtempo, and club beats all inform his music yet it rarely falls easily into any one of these categories, and always contains unexpected twists and turns. .
Indeed it's this kind of prodigious experimentation and genre bending mixed with an innate knowledge of what makes a good track that has led him to already count an established crew of heavyweight supporters across radio and press, including Jaguar and Sian Eleri (BBC Radio 1), BBC 6Music, BBC Introducing, Wonderland, Fame Mag, and ThisSongIsSick to name a few.
